Bible Questions & Answers Archive Did God Create Evil? Question How can I explain Isaiah 45:7 which says that "God created evil." This has me stumped! Answer Isaiah 45:7 states, "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace and CREATE EVIL: I the LORD do all these things." The word "evil" in the above quoted text is translated from the Hebrew word "ra". "Ra" is translated "sorrow, wretchedness, adversity, afflictions, calamities", BUT, never translated "sin". God created evil only in the sense that He made sorrow, wretchedness, and etc. to be the sure fruits of sin. |
