"The Truth Shall Make You Free"
In the words of the Patriot
long ago,
"Give me liberty; or give
me death!"
But truth about grace is
man's greatest need;
As long as he can draw a
breath.
Our Lord taught in the
Temple,
About man's greatest need
one day.
"Ye shall die in your
sins...If ye believe not,"
Is what the Truth,
Incarnate, had to say,
"...Ye shall know the
truth, and,
The truth shall make you
free."
But, His words were not
perceived
By the doubting Pharisee.
"We have never been in
bondage;
We are Abraham's seed!"
But, as they were Satan's
children;
Christ's words they did not
heed.
They spurned the Savior of
the world;
Choosing the Law in His
place,
As unredeemed slaves in the
market of sin,
They refused God's offer of
Grace.
Christ was the "end of the
Law,"
Through His death on
Calvary,
"The Way, the Truth, and
the Life,
The only Way to Heaven for
you and me.
When sinners mocked Him on
the Cross;
"Agape" love came into full
view.
"Father, forgive them," He
prayed,
"For they know not what
they do."
It was, "Mission
accomplished,"
Our sin debt was paid on
that day.
"It is finished," cried
God, the Son;
As God, the Father, looked
away.
Don't imitate the
Pharisees,
Thinking Heaven is owed to
you;
Because of baptism,
rituals; or,
The few good deeds you do.
Here is the truth that
frees all men
From the world's
slave-market of sin.
Heaven is a perfect place,
And no sinful flesh can
enter in.
You can pay for your own in
Hell,
Suffering flames forever
blasting;
Or, accept Christ's payment
instead;
And receive a life that is
everlasting.
Then, Stand fast therefore
in the liberty,
Wherewith Christ has made
us free,"
We can "Speak... the truth in love,"
At every golden
opportunity.
And, "If ye continue in
(His) word,
Then are ye (His) disciples
indeed."
"Rightly dividing the word
of truth,"
A workman who has no need.
The doctrine you teach will
not waft about,
With every wind that blows;
And God will approve your
witness
With a soul winner's crown
that glows.
"For by grace are ye saved
through faith;"
Is God's free gift to you
and to me.
That is the truth that no
army can win,
"...And the truth (that)
shall make us free."
